New Componit

Technologies and Innovation

Those who work in industry know that the accumulation of dust, residues and encrustations inside silos, ducts, heat exchangers or boilers is not just a question of efficiency.

It is an operational risk, it is extraordinary maintenance that needs to be planned. In many cases, it is a plant shutdown that must be avoided at all costs.

It is in this context that acoustic cleaning proves to be a strategic solution.

A silent technology — successfully adopted by New Componit — that allows solidified deposits to be removed without direct contact, without the use of chemicals and above all, without interrupting production.

A well-established technology. That now looks beyond

The acoustic horns Safefon® brand used by New Componit –– operate using low-frequency, high-intensity sound waves. Powered by compressed air, once installed in strategic points of the system, they generate controlled vibrations capable of loosening and removing encrustations accumulated on the internal walls.

All this without structural damage, without risk of corrosion and without the need for invasive interventions.

This technology is already widely used and tested in highly critical contexts such as the ceramics sector and storage silos, where the accumulation of material compromises process continuity and efficiency.

New Componit has gained concrete experience in integrating these solutions, helping to improve their operational effectiveness and extend their use.

The real news? Today, the company is successfully applying acoustic horns in other industrial sectors as well, where until recently it was believed that acoustic cleaning was not suitable or advantageous.

New areas, same challenges. But now there are new solutions too.

Cement factories, power stations, food processing plants: these are just some of the contexts in which acoustic horns are being tested — and adopted — for their ability to intervene where other systems fail.

In environments where operating temperatures can reach 1000°C and where mechanical vibrations – such as external hammers – can damage structures, acoustic cleaning is a non-invasive and more sustainable alternative.

The body of the horns is made of AISI 316 stainless steel, resistant to extreme conditions and high chemical or thermal aggression.

Furthermore, thanks to the possibility of automatic activation at predefined intervals, the system not only cleans but also prevents the formation of new deposits, keeping the system in optimal condition without interrupting production cycles.

Not just efficiency: safety and savings too

One of the advantages most appreciated by those who have already adopted this technology is operational continuity.

The system does not require the plant to be shut down, dismantled, or work at height or in confined spaces.

This not only limits the costs associated with machine downtime, but also reduces the risks for operators and the impact of maintenance on the organisational level.

Add to this the durability of the materials, ease of installation and virtually zero maintenance and it is easy to see why acoustic cleaning is now seen as a real innovation, even in sectors where it had not yet been exploited.

A tailor-made system with New Componit expertise

New Componit, a benchmark in heat management for forty years — with solutions such as textile expansion joints, insulating jackets and rubber expansion joints — has integrated the use of acoustic horns into its technical offering, providing customers with a complete, scalable and highly customised system.

Each project is preceded by a dedicated technical consultation, with an on-site inspection and analysis of the critical points of the system.

This is followed by the supply of the devices, installation (with on-site supervision if required) and after-sales technical support.

Since our company was founded in 1986, we have always invested in research with the aim to solve complex problems thanks to innovative technology solutions.

Today, the market competitiveness requires organizations to always be at the forefront in all aspects.

For this reason, New Componit, after the initial commitment to the search for every possible alternative to asbestos, has always been at the forefront in the research, development and use of products that ensure effectiveness in applications and, at the same time, safeguard the safety and health of people and respect for the environment.

In order to pursue these goals, we also invest in innovative technologies of machinery and in the training of personnel that works with them.

With these assumptions, today we produce textile expansion jointsinsulating and fireproofing blankets, safety shields, rubber expansion joints and acoustic cleaning systems. Through these products we aim to find concrete and technologically advanced solutions related to heat, noise and expansion problems due to temperature changes.

How can I be sure that the materials, we use for our solutions, fully comply with the operating conditions and the required technical characteristics?

The possibility to test what we use, to understand exactly what happens to the different materials during the operation, to simulate extreme and stressful conditions, becomes a winning company asset.

To be able to show by means of tests, reports videos, analysis, what happens to the materials is an exceptional “plus” , which helps the customer to eliminate his doubts about the product he is buying!

To do this, it is necessary to use specialized laboratories or equip yourself with your own internal laboratory; a test room able of simulating the operating conditions and then processing the data, by means of special software and targeted data logger, capable of supporting the results of tests.

This is where the decisive “research and development” department comes into play; a strategic function in the company organization, which is entrusted with the company ability to build and preserve its competitive advantage.

Innovation has been New Componit hallmark since its establishment 35 years ago.

Innovation with textile solution for heat control. Until then, asbestos was the most used material for the insulation at high temperature. It has been used for decades, but in seventies came to light the serious problems it caused, by inhalation, to human health.

New Componit was born with the idea of replacing asbestos in industrial applications, especially in its textile form. Since then New Componit has had the mission of proposing textile solutions for heat and temperature control.

Since, these are solutions that improve the quality of the environment and the impact on health, New Componit can be considered an “ante litteram” environmental company and not surprisingly, it immediately chose “green” as its corporate colour.

New Componit with its technical department designs the products which then produces in its factory and sells all over the world. In the modern world the changes are continuous and fast and the need of innovation has always affected New Cpmponit even unexpectedly; the company has always tried to play ahead, launching itself in new challenges.

The environmental issue, with the energy saving and CO2 reduction plan, the fight against pollution, the increased attention to worker safety, require to keep up and have completely changed the approach to thermal insulation problems. For this need to insulate anything more and better,  New Componit has decided to revamp the line of insulating  jackets, alongside the one of fabric expansion joints.

These jackets, made of glass fiber fabric, are versatile and can be used in a lot of plants, where there are valves, flanged couplings, pumps, filters and many other small elements,  which are neglected by traditional insulation but that can be points of heat dispersion and therefore of energy.

New Componit textile solutions for heat control are allies in the battle for environmental protection and against pollution.

The processes of all industrial plants involve the use of pipes, for the passage of liquid or gaseous fluids. Almost always the pipes are delimited by flanged couplings or two flanges, used to join two pipes.

The solution to overcome problems are flange protections “shields”, designed and built with technical fabrics or  made of stainless steel.

Fabric cover shields are mainly made of Teflon, which is suitable to withstand aggressive fluids and temperatures up to 300 °C. They can be made of pure transparent PTFE,  with leak indicators, that allow the flange cover to change the colour upon contact with acids or strong bases and even in antistatic Teflon for use in ATEX areas.

The stainless steel flange covers are designed to prevent that dangerous jets of fluids, with high pressure or high temperature (up to 900°C) , hit people or things.

Our CHEMJETSHIELDS, which are stainless steel flange covers, are certified as protection to prevent jet fire primers in petrochemical, off-shore and hydrocarbon storage plants.

Here we are together again to share technological solutions by means of removable insulation.

The topic of the day is noise. The question I am often asked is: How can I reduce the noise of a particular device like a fan, an engine, a compressor?

Well. First of all, it is necessary to have a technical expertise in the acoustic environment and be able to use calculation and analysis systems to determine what the noise frequencies are and how to reduce them.

Physically, to break them down, we’ll use acoustic absorbing materials, that properly work on the frequencies previously analyzed.

Furthermore we can use a combination of materials to achieve a better result.

But there are also problems of space and particular shapes, that these equipments sometimes have and which do not allow traditional insulation.

At this point a removable acoustic insulation can help us, it is perfect for any particular shapes and  it is easy to install and remove. Often it can also be combined to the heating insulation part, in this way we obtain a thermo-acoustic insulation, which allows energy savings .

If we did not have thermal insulation before, we had a waste of energy and therefore a waste o money.

In the end there is also the protection of the operators who work close to these devices.
